School Hours & Supervision
Lessons commence each day at 8:49 am and conclude at 3:10 pm. The school grounds are open to students from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Staff supervision of students begins at 8.22 am and in the afternoon there is supervision from 3.10 pm.
Special arrangements will be made concerning authorised school activities that require students' attendance at the School outside these hours.
Office Hours
Office hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Office staff can only conduct office functions such as fee payments and EFTPOS during these hours
Late Arrivals
Students who arrive late must report to the office to sign the Late Book and have their diary stamped. Students are to give the note explaining their late arrival to the Attendance Secretary at Reception.
Students who arrive late must report to Student Reception at the Office with their student diary before proceeding to class. The student must have a note in their diary explaining why they are late; alternatively, a parent must accompany them to Student Reception. The student’s diary will be noted with a late arrival stamp.
Early Departure
Any student who needs to leave during school hours must bring a note from a parent or guardian and have the note signed by their homeroom teacher or Year/House Co-ordinator, then sign the leaver’s Book at the Front Office. Parents are to come to the Front Office to Collect students.
Students may not leave the School premises during school hours without signing out through the Student Reception at the Office. The student must have a note in their diary, signed by their parent/guardian to show the teacher of their current class to be excused. The student’s diary will be noted with an early leaver stamp. Parents/Guardians must collect their child(ren) from Student Reception.
Absence from School & Extended Leave
Parents/Guardians are asked to provide an explanation for student absences/partial absences stating specific dates and causes in written form or as an SMS. Notes are to be given to the student’s homeroom teacher on the day or return. If students are going to be absent for more than two days, parents are asked to notify the office
Feeling Unwell
Students who are ill during class time must report to the Office with their College diary before being admitted to the Sick Bay. Students who become ill during the breaks are to report to their next lesson teacher and then ask to go to the Sick Bay. Students will generally be sent home if their parents are able to collect them. Parents/Guardians will always be contacted in the case of serious illness.
Unable to Participate in Sport
Those students who are temporarily unable to take part in Sport must present a note from parents/guardians to the homeroom teacher stating a reason why the student cannot participate.
Restricted Items at School
Students are not allowed to use mobile phones or music players at school. These items should be switched off at all times and kept in a safe place (bag or lockers).
Security of Ownership
All articles of clothing, bags, books, stationery items, calculators and so on must be clearly marked with the current owner's name. Valuable school time should not be wasted looking for lost or otherwise ‘missing’ articles.
Students should not bring to school more money than is needed for the day and must accept responsibility for its use and whereabouts. If, for some exceptional reason, a larger sum than usual is brought and needed for after school, it must be lodged (in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the student’s name) at the school office for safekeeping and claimed at the end of the day. School fees should be deposited at the School Office before school.
Lost Property
The Lost Property basket is located in the Front Office. Please clearly label all items that are brought or worn to school.
School Diary/Planner
Each student is issued with a school Diary/Planner.
The Diary will be checked regularly by subject teachers and the homeroom teachers, and there may be intermittent inspections of the Diaries by either the Year Coordinators or the Leader of Student Welfare.
Messages for Students
If you have a message for your son/daughter, please let the office know as early as possible and preferably before lunchtime (insert the time lunch commences), as classes will not be interrupted to pass on routine messages. In case of emergencies, there will be exceptions to this rule; however, a paramount aim of the school is to safeguard the students' instruction time as much as possible.
Change of Address/Family Circumstances
Parents are asked to promptly notify the school of any change of address, phone number, email address or place of employment. When parents arrange for students to stay with relatives or friends while they themselves are away from home for a period of time, the office must be informed in writing. We need particulars relating to the name, address and phone number of relatives/friends and the duration of the student's stay.
Similarly, any change in family status, such as a separation, must be notified to the school. This is not only for administrative purposes but also so the school can work for the pastoral welfare of the child(ren).
School Visitors
It is a legal requirement that all visitors to our school premises must sign in at the front office.
While this may sound daunting and unfriendly, particularly as we wish to encourage parents to come to the school and feel welcome, you must report to the office first in order for us to comply with child protection legislation.
